Descrizione: Questa pianta può crescere e superare gli 8 metri di altezza, ma può essere mantenuto più piccolo tramite la potatura. Le foglie variegate sono ovali e lucenti, mentre i fiori sono di colore rosso brillante e sbocciano dalla tarda primavera all’estate.

Crescita: Il Metrosideros excelsa è una pianta resistente che preferisce un’esposizione soleggiata e un terreno ben drenato. Cresce bene in climi temperati e mediterranei e tollera leggere gelate, ma è sensibile a temperature estreme, cresce benissimo anche al ridosso del mare. Può essere coltivato in giardino come albero ornamentale o può essere potato per formare una siepe decorativa.

Fioritura: Le infiorescenze di questa pianta sono costituite da fiori rossi riuniti in grappoli terminali. Questi fiori sono molto attraenti per gli uccelli e le api, contribuendo alla biodiversità del giardino.
