La Beaucarnea recurvata è una succulenta molto famosa come pianta d’ appartamento grazie alla sua semplicissima coltivazione e robustezza: perfetta per neofiti o per arredare con facilità ambienti come casa o ufficio.
Pianta caudiciforme caratterizzata da fusti legnosi con base tondeggiante da cui si sviluppa ramificazioni con lussureggianti ciuffi di foglie lanceolate, morbide e sottili dal portamento ricurvo: e proprio grazie a questa caratteristica che prende il nome di Beaucarnea Recurvata. Ha svariati soprannomi o nomignoli tra cui: Nolina (per la sottofamiglia botanica), Piede d’ elefante (per la caratteristica forma del fusto) e Pianta mangiafumo (grazie a riti antichi), ma il più noto soprannome è proprio quest’ ultimo. Pianta mangiafumo, infatti, deriva dalla sua capacità di resistere, appunto, al fumo: tale capacità è stata approvata da studiosi che hanno osservato l’ uso di Beaucarnea recurvata in alcuni riti tribali delle popolazioni indigene del centroamerica che la avvolgevano completamente nel fumo; perciò nella coltivazione domestica è stata incoronata pianta in grado di assorbire tabacco, fumo ed altre polveri inquinanti. NB acqua solo a terreno completamente asciutto Piante rustiche, cresciute all’esterno, quindi tolleranti sia al freddo che al caldo, per cui le foglie non sono perfette, ma al naturale, piante molto belle ed eleganti.

The plant of Alocasia (Elephant Ears) is an evergreen house plant native to tropical areas. It possesses beautiful large, oval, wing-shaped leaves that can be up to 90 cm long, which when shaken by the wind resemble elephant ears, shiny light green in colour, with wavy margins. The Spathiphyllum is a long-lived, undemanding plant native to Central and South America. The Greek name 'Spathiphyllum' means 'sword-shaped leaf', so it has taken on the meaning of defence and protection. A plant that does not need much care, keep it away from frost and excessive air dryness.
