La pianta Pitosforo è originaria dell’Asia orientale, dell’Africa e dell’Australia. Si tratta di arbusti e di alberi di piccole dimensioni, sempreverdi, semirustici e dotati di un fogliame molto ornamentale. Sono particolarmente adatti per essere coltivati come cespugli nei giardini delle zone con clima mite; nelle zone litoranee sono utilizzati per formare hedgerows. Il terreno deve essere fertile e ben drenato.vPianta che necessita di essere esposta ai raggi diretti del sole. In genere se il clima è rigido non è necessaio annaffiare durante i mesi invernali.
