l melograno Dente di cavallo è certamente la varietà di melograno più diffusa e rustica che può essere coltivata con successo in tutta Italia.
Il frutto del melograno Dente di cavallo è di medie dimensioni con buccia di colore verde chiaro e sfumature rosse. La scorza è di medio spessore.
I grani (arilli) avvolgono esternamente i semi e sono la parte edibile del melograno. Sono di colore rosa carico e di sapore agro-dolce. I semi contenuti all’interno sono abbastanza consistenti.
La maturazione della melagrana Dente di cavallo avviene da fine settembre a metà ottobre.
Per essere mangiati son preferibili al Wonderful, ma per la produzione di spremute, di gran lunga migliore il Wonderful, vista la quantità di succo che possiede.

The Pomegranate tree (Punica granatum) belongs to the Punicaceae family. It is a 4-5 m high, bushy, deciduous shrub.
The trunk of the pomegranate plant is very gnarled and branched with thorny branches. The bright green leaves are small, opposite and entire.
The orange-red flowers are very beautiful and showy. Flowering can take place from the beginning of June to mid-July.
The round fruit of the pomegranate is a fleshy berry (balausta) with a thick skin and containing fleshy, prism-shaped grains (arils) with a pulpy head and woody integument, which are very juicy and taste sweet or sour depending on the variety.
