Magnolia Soulangeana è piccolo albero spogliante, alto fino a 6 m e largo fino a 4,5 m, con crescita medio-rapida; foglie grandi, vellutate,
di colore verde chiaro, emesse dopo la comparsa, in marzo-aprile, sui rami nudi, dei grandi fiori a forma di coppa, bianchi, rosati o cremisi.
UTILIZZO: in giardino come esemplare isolato o in vaso molto grande.
AMBIENTE: vive all’aperto tutto l’anno, al sole o a mezz’ombra. Da proteggere in inverno sull’arco alpino.
Non ama il caldo intenso, da collocare in penombra in zone costiere.
TERRA: preferisce un terreno fertile, fresco, tendenzialmente acido e ben drenato.
ACQUA: in giardino, abbondante per il primo anno dall’impianto, poi media in primavera-estate e scarsa nelle altre stagioni. In vaso, appena il terriccio si è asciugato.
CONCIME: in autunno e in primavera dopo la fioritura, del tipo a lenta cessione.
NOTE: è preferibile non potare, ma se necessario, è consigliabile intervenire subito dopo la fioritura, pianta a foglia caduca.
