Yuzu is a small, rare, and difficult-to-source Japanese citrus fruit. It is loved for its aromatic flavour, exceptional peel oils, and exquisite juice, which is less tart and more delicate than lemon. A complex mix of lime, lemon, and sweet mandarin tones; connoisseurs also detect hints of grapefruit and pine needles. Yuzu juice is used in meat and fish dishes.
Plant height on delivery: approx. 60 cm.
Citrus fruits are self-fertile plants, although the presence of another variety (same genus and species) increases fruit set (i.e. the transformation of flowers into fruit).

Probable mutation originating in Calabria, in the locality of Diamante (CS), from which the name is derived.
It is the most widespread citron cultivar in southern Italy.
Small, open-formed, expansive plant with moderately upright, dense, very spindly branches.
Has large, oblong leaves. Purple-red shoots and flowers, mainly arranged in clusters. The large, elongated ovate-ellipsoid shaped fruit has an apex with a wide umbo. Its peel, lemon-yellow when ripe, thick, smooth and ribbed, is used for the production of candied fruit. The pulp is scanty, almost dry, with an acid lemon-like flavour.
