Con il termine di arancia Navel si indica in modo generico una varietà di arancia che presenta un tipico frutto gemello (detto, appunto, navel). Le varietà di Citrus Sinensis che contengono navel sono Washington Navel, Navelina, Thompson, Navelate, Golden Buckeye. L’arancia Newhall, cultivar a polpa bionda e apirene. è caratterizzata dalla presenza, nella parte stilare del frutto, di una depressione a forma di ombelico, derivante, come spiegato sopra per le arance Navel in generale, dall’inclusione di un secondo frutto più piccolo, dovuta ad una particolare conformazione fiorale.
La pianta si presenta vigorosa, di sviluppo medio, con marcata tendenza a ramificarsi verso il basso, per cui ha un portamento raccolto, che ben si presta alla forma di allevamento “a globo”. Le foglie sono grandi e di colore verde scuro. Il frutto si presenta ovoide, o ellittico e la buccia è di medio spessore, di colore arancio scuro, con tendenza al rossastro a maturazione. La pezzatura è medio-grossa (da 150 a 250 grammi). La polpa è bionda, di tessitura fine e soda, di straordinaria qualità e sapore. La maturazione avviene da novembre a marzo. Aspetto
