The skin is leathery and has a rather uniform purple-red colour. The pulp consists of dark red, juicy grains. They have a very sweet, typically sour taste, with soft, barely perceptible seeds inside. The fruit ripens in September.
The Pomegranate tree (Punica granatum) belongs to the Punicaceae family. It is a 4-5 m high, bushy, deciduous shrub.
The trunk of the pomegranate plant is very gnarled and branched with thorny branches. The bright green leaves are small, opposite and entire.
The orange-red flowers are very beautiful and showy. Flowering can take place from the beginning of June to mid-July.
The round fruit of the pomegranate is a fleshy berry (balausta) with a thick skin and containing fleshy, prism-shaped grains (arils) with a pulpy head and woody integument, which are very juicy and taste sweet or sour depending on the variety.
Caratteristiche del Melograno Mollar
Il Melograno Mollar si distingue per i suoi frutti dalle dimensioni generose, noti per il loro sapore delicato e la polpa dolce. Il frutto è meno acido rispetto ad altre varietà, come il Melograno Wonderful, e presenta un seme molto morbido o quasi assente, rendendolo perfetto per il consumo fresco o per la preparazione di succhi, è un albero autofertile.
Questa pianta può essere coltivata come alberello di melograno o come albero adulto, raggiungendo altezze variabili in base alle condizioni di crescita. Disponibile in diverse dimensioni, è adatta sia per piccoli giardini che per spazi più ampi.
