The Pomegranate tree (Punica granatum) belongs to the Punicaceae family. It is a 4-5 m high, bushy, deciduous shrub.
The trunk of the pomegranate plant is very gnarled and branched with thorny branches. The bright green leaves are small, opposite and entire.
The orange-red flowers are very beautiful and showy. Flowering can take place from the beginning of June to mid-July.
The round fruit of the pomegranate is a fleshy berry (balausta) with a thick skin and containing fleshy, prism-shaped grains (arils) with a pulpy head and woody integument, which are very juicy and taste sweet or sour depending on the variety.

The Mulberry Tree adapts to any environment, and to any type of soil, clayey, stony, poor or sloping, with the interesting side-effect of curbing soil erosion and blocking landslide movements.
